BAR-CODE READER FOR INDIVIDUALLY FLOWING PRODUCT

PURPOSE: To read both a ladder type and a stake type bar code out automatically at a high speed. CONSTITUTION: The bar code reader has a couple of line scanners 138a and 138b for reading out a ladder type bar code on the top surface of each product and a couple of line scanners 138a and 138b for reading out stake type bar codes on the top and reverse surfaces of each product. Further, a 2nd couple of raster scanners 136b are provided additionally to an upper raster scanner 136a and a line scanner 138a, and a ladder type bar code on the reverse surface of each product is scanned. Information on the scanned optical bar codes is decoded, and transmitted to and analyzed by a computer. The product is discriminated according to the scanned code, and counted to determine how respective flowing products are treated.
