PROCESS FOR OPERATING A VOLTAGE CONVERTER, VOLTAGE CONVERTER AND ITS USE

In a voltage converter for switching operations, such as a push-pull voltage converter (GW), the switching-on pulses for the switching members (S1, S2) during a switching-on operation have different lengths, in such a way that the average value of the absorbed energy current does not exceed a predetermined limit value. On the contrary of usual processes, the switching-on pulses are not regulated, but the different switching-on times in several dividing phases are fixed in advance depending on the inductivity (LS) of the direct voltage converter (GW). This process ensures that the average value of the switching-on current does not substantially exceed a predetermined nominal value. This is particularly advantageous for the energy supply to travelling-wave tube amplifiers.
