<p>A method for performing Kana to Kanji conversion using a pen-based computer comprising the steps of: displaying a plurality of edit boxes; using the pen to input data; performing character recognition on the input data; simultaneously indicating a KKC operation and characters for the operation using the pen; determining the KKC operation to perform; retrieving the character string indicated; performing KKC on the string; replacing the existing characters with new characters, typically a Kanji equivalent; and displaying the converted character string including Kanji characters. This method makes KKC with pen-based systems much easier and efficient for the user, and therefore, provides pen-based systems with greater utility for input and output of Asian characters.</p> |
