A two-layer spiral stranded rope with a parallel twist has an inner layer of strands embedded in soft plastic material which has been heated and applied on the core strand. The inner layer is pressed into it during the stranding operation. Pref the inner layer of strands of the wire rope is embedded in plastic material which was applied to the stranded core after heating. In the finished state, the plastic does not extend beyond the inner layer and just contacts the outer layer of strands. The actual extent can be adjusted by varying the amt of plastic material applied to the core. ADVANTAGE - Reduces the costs of mfr relative to using individually insulated conductors for the inner layer.
