The therapy device has a source (13) providing focussed acoustic waves attached to a source carrier (8) and an X-ray imaging system (17,18) attached to an X-ray carrier (16), which is pivoted relative to the source carrier. The central beam (Z) of the X-ray imaging system passes through the focus (F) of the acoustic waves. The source carrier is adjustable in a given plane for adjusting the focus position. The patient table (1) is adjustable in a direction which intersects this plane, e.g. at right angles. ADVANTAGE - Simplified construction for reduced cost. Compact construction due to shaping of source carrier with cut-out.
