The mechanical interlock is provided for a pair of adjacent desk tops are fitted on the underside with a pair of metal units (3,4) that are used to mechanically lock the units together. Each of the units is fitted to the desk top by screws inserted through holes (16). One of the units is formed with a 'U' shaped section (12). The other unit is formed with a cut out section (9) that fits over the edge of the 'U' channel side wall and so connects the units. Channels are provided for power cables. ADVANTAGE - Simplifies mechanical coupling.
