A protection system for use with road vehicles has an on/off switch (14) that has to be operated before the power from the battery is connected to the starter motor. The switch is operated by a motor (8) with threaded shaft (13) that connects with a plastic slide element (11) that moves in side guides. Operation of the actuator is provided by a 9V low power battery (7) that is energised when the correct combination is entered on a keyboard (4). This requires the presence of a bulb (16) in a holder. USE/ADVANTAGE - Isolates battery to prevent vehicle being started.
