A hermetically sealable package (10) for holding medical implanted devices is disclosed. A ceramic envelope (2) is bonded to a metal flange (3) without braze, so the package (10) may be sealed by welding the flange (3) to a metal closure (5). A method of solid state bonding a metal flange (3) to a ceramic envelope (2) by compressing them together at appropriate temperature and pressure is also disclosed. |
