PURPOSE:To prevent unnecessary access to a storage device and increase the character generating speed of the font image generating device which generates image data on a font of size specified from a host device, etc. CONSTITUTION:The font image generating device which receives the specified font and size by a control part 1, retrieves a 1st cache memory 5 stored with font data, and then leads corresponding vector font data out of a storage device and expands the data to generate a font data and store font data in the 1st cache memory 5 at the time of unsuccess in retrieval is provided with a 2nd cache memory 6 wherein the vector font data lead out of the storage device 3 are stored; when the retrieval of the 1st cache memory 5 is unsuccessful, the 2nd cache memory 6 is retrieved to find specified vector font data, which are expanded into font data of the specified size. |
