PURPOSE:To easily and quickly substitute words and phrases in a prepared document by performing a mode setting for substituting outputted and displayed character string information with each other based on prescribed input instruc tion information. CONSTITUTION:When the words and phases substitution key 44c of a keyboard 44 is depressed, a central control processing part 10 is started by signal information delivered via an input control part 42. In the information such as a sentence with KANJI (Chinese character), etc., outputted and displayed on a display part 54, a mode for substituting desired character string information with each other is set. The central control processing part 10 makes the guide area 54a of the display part 54 output a message asking which character strings with each other are substituted. In accordance with this message, an operator instructs a desired object character string via the keyboard 44. The central control part 10 controls the two kinds of designated character string information so as to substitute the outputted and displayed locations with each other and makes the display part 54 output the information. |
