<p>A display device includes a deformable mirror device (103, 105, 107) wherein grey scales are displayed using a time division modulation process for switching each mirror device (M) within the display between an 'on' state in which light is directed onto a display (101) and an 'off' state in which light is not directed onto the display (101). Each field period of the display system is divided into sufficient time intervals to allow grouping of the time intervals in which each mirror device (M) is switched to either the 'on' state or the 'off' state. This increases the temporal balance of the light from each mirror device (M) during each frame period of the display system and/or between consecutive frame periods.</p> |
