The device is used for changing grinding bands in a band-type grinding machine. The machine (1) has a grinding station (2) with a belt (3) running over two guide rollers (6).It may pass over a further pair of rollers with a belt-cutter between them. When an old belt is removed it is cut through and is received into a storage receptacle. There is a magazine (29) with stops (28) to hold several spare belts (3) and a member for pushing the belts along to change them.
