In optical receivers for optical data transmission, the problem exists that a wide dynamic range is required, since the receiver must be able to process optical signals whose level may fluctuate greatly depending on the location of use. This problem is solved according to the invention by providing an optical amplifier, in particular a fibre-optic amplifier, through which the incoming optical signal passes before entering the transducer itself, and whose amplification or attenuation factor is controlled depending on the electric output signal of the transducer.

|
