The transplanting-mechanism is composed of two subsystems. The first is a tube and needle system which makes it possible to arrest a clod during penetration as well as screwing out by the second subsystem, a helical wirebody. Last mentioned screws itself in and out of a clod in such a way that the hole is made of a length and cross-section not more than that of the penetrated wirebody. This will avoid damage to the plant material. With the tube and needle system it is also possible to give water to the plant after transplanting. A drilling unit can be incorporated in the mechanism to drill holes of the size of the clod of the plant to be transplanted, in the transplanting-tray. <IMAGE>
