摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To obtain CO and an org. compound with high production efficiency by electrolytically reducing CO2 with a gas diffusion electrode having a reaction layer consisting of small hydrophilic and water-repellent parts as an electrode for electrolytic reduction. CONSTITUTION:0.5M aqueous KHCO3 soln. is poured into an electrolytic cell by 0.14l. A Pt net is set as the anode, 'Nafuion 117(R)' which is an ion exchange a reaction layer consisting of small hydrophilic and water-repellent parts is set as an electrode (cathode) for electrolytic reduction. CO2 is then fed from the rear side of the diffusion electrode to carry out electrolytic reduction. By electrolysis at 1.4-1.45V electrolytic potential (to SCE) and 200mA/cm<2> current density for 10min, formic acid is obtd. with 70-75% current efficiency. The current density is much higher than the conventional current density an the amount of the org. compound produced per unit area of the electrode is remarkably increased.</p>
