A lighting device, in particular a signalling lamp for a vehicle, consists of a lamp housing (1) and a cover plate (2) fastened thereto with at least some transparent areas. The lighting device may be mounted on a wall or the like, and an unesthetic gap which forcibly results from the design between the lighting device and an adjacent wall is to be decoratively covered. For that purpose, an elastic element (7) made of plastics is injection-molded on a part of the lamp housing (1). The elastic element (7) may contain a masking lip (9). In addition, a plastic coating (20) may be injection-molded on visible outer surfaces (14 - 19) of the lighting housing (1) in order to impart a pleasant appearance to said visible outer surfaces (14 - 19).
