PURPOSE:To obtain a crude medicine type antibacterial agent against chain coccus, containing an extract of the cap part of fruit body of Fomes japonicus. CONSTITUTION:This galenical drug type antibacterial agent against steplococci contains an extract of the cap part of fruit body of Fomes japonicus which is especially completely ripened and has a great number of grown spores. The extract is obtained by extraction with hot water by a conventional procedure, the extracted solution is spray-dried into powder, etc., and pharmaceutically manufactured into an external preparation such as solution or ointment or internal preparation such as powder, capsule or solution. In the case of the external preparation, the preparation contains 5-10wt.% of the extract and in the case of the internal preparation, a dose is 5-35mg/kg and administered twice or three times daily. The antibacterial agent has an excellent inhibitory effect on growth of streptococci as bacilli to cause human and animal infection and is effective for preventing and treating nonsuppurative complication such as carbuncle, furuncle, honeycomb, endocarditis, nephritis, and erysipelas, tonsillitis, scarlet fever, childbed fever, ichorrhemia, pneumonia, food poisoning, etc. |
