PURPOSE:To provide a method of manufacturing a continuous glass-fiber reinforced thermoplastic rein pellet, which contains continuous glass fibers as reinforcing material and can be manufactured with a high productivity, and wherein glass fibers are impregnated with thermoplastic resin uniformly. CONSTITUTION:Many pieces of monofilaments 6, each having the diameters of 6-25mum, are drawn out of a bushing 1. A converging agent is applied on the monofilament 6 with an applicator 2. The monofilament 6 is divided into a plurality of pieces with a splitter 3 and converged. Traverse is performed with a spiral wire. The thread is wound in a drum shape, and a wound body (cake) 9 is formed. A plurality of glass fiber strands, which are drawn from cake 9, are introduced into a resin impregnating metal mold at the same time. The glass fibers are impregnated with thermoplastic resin, and a pellet is formed. |
