PURPOSE:To obtain a new aldehyde dehydrogenase having heat resistance and capable of readily purifying. CONSTITUTION:An aldehyde hydrogenase containing an amino acid sequence from Met in the 1st position of an amino acid sequence of the formula to Ala in the 488th position. This hydrogenase can be obtained from a culture medium by culturing a transformant obtained by introducing an expression vector having a DNA sequence containing a base sequence from A in 1266th position of a base sequence of the formula to T in 2729th position into a host.
