PURPOSE:To prolong the life of a heating means, regenerate the heat of a recording head and reduce the excess amount of bubbles in a common liquid chamber by providing a drive means which moves heating elements sequentially from among heating elements corresponding to a desired ink passage and holds bubbles near the desired ink passage of a common liquid chamber. CONSTITUTION:Heating is sequentially performed in accordance with a position where bubbles are accumulated. That is, to begin with, an upper or a lower ink passage is heated and then the rest is heated in order, when the ink is heated up to a boiling temperature, and the temperature peak is attained, the heating of either of the upper or the lower ink passage is sequentially stopped, thus shortening heating time with a heater to a permissible minimum extent. Bubbles are generated by repeating the above sequential steps a few times to accumulate bubbles in the desired internal spot of a recording head. The 64 discharge orifices are split by a COM 8 circuit and an SEG 8 circuit, and each circuit is driven by connecting COM 1 to COM 8 circuits, each consisting of eight discharge orifices totaling 64, to a head drive power supply (VH) sequentially, in case heating is performed starting with the upper discharge orifice and ending with the lower discharge orifice. Thus each ink passage is heated. |
