PURPOSE:To ensure a certain printing quality and, at the same time, prolong the lifetime of ribbon by a method wherein the gap between a platen and a printing head is finely adjusted in the recording device concerned. CONSTITUTION:The recording device concerned is equipped with a reading means 5, which reads the information recorded on recording medium 3, a judging means, which judges the ribbon density of the read information, a storing means, which stores the judges ribbon density, and a controlling means 18, which controls a platen controlling motor 10 in response to the ribbon density so as to determined the correction of the approaching position of a platen 8. |
