PURPOSE:To convert CO2 to ethanol with good recovering efficiency and energy efficiency by electrolytically reducing the CO2 in an aq. electrolyte soln. by using a double oxide electrode composed of ZnO and CuO. CONSTITUTION:The stable aq. electrolyte soln. which consists of, for example, aq. phosphate soln., aq. carbonate soln., etc., and has a high degree of ionization is prepd. The hydroxide obtd. by dropping an alkali to an aq. soln. mixture composed of water-soluble salts of, for example zinc and copper, is calcined to obtain the double oxide composed of 8/2 to 4/6 ZnO/CuO. The CO2 is electrolytically reduced in the above-mentioned aq. electrolyte soln. by using the electrode consisting of such double oxide, by which the ethanol is obtd. |
