PURPOSE:To provide a facsimile device with an inexpensive means for detecting remaining ink quantity without using additional hardware. CONSTITUTION:The facsimile device is composed of a centronics interface to which an ink jet-type dot printer 10 is connected, and an output means for converting facsimile data to output character data printable on a printer 10. In addition, the facsimile device is equipped with a comparison means which compares the total number of characters or the total number of dots, to be output to a printer 10 side, which are counted since the time of ink cartridge replacement, to the number of characters or the number of dots which can be printed using a single ink cartridge, and a means for detecting a residual ink quantity which compares the total number of characters or the total number of dots which are output to the number of characters or the number of dots which are printable, and detects the residual ink quantity. |
