PURPOSE: To automatically handle a reel around which a material web is wound with high capacity. CONSTITUTION: A supporting journal 41 intrudes into the center orifice of the reel 10 and is engaged with the reel 10. The supporting journal 41 is individually operated by a pressure medium cylinder 49. The working journal 33 of a packaging machine is rotationally driven and simultaneously tilted between one upright position and two opposed horizontal positions.
