Screening method for diabetic condition

摘要

A screening method for preliminary indication of the diabetic state in mammals comprises an assay of urine samples collected from suspect patients for the presence of D-chiroinositol. The absence or low levels of D-chiroinositol indicates a low level of insulin mediators and therefore a diabetic condition. The assay may be used to detect genetic predisposition to the development of diabetes in asymptomatic individuals.
