PURPOSE:To provide an inexpensive high-performance catalyst for the hydrogenation of 3-cyano-3,5,5-trimethylcyclohexanone in the presence of ammonia to produce 3-aminomethyl-3,5,5-trimethylcyclohexylamine. CONSTITUTION:At least one kind of cobalt acetate and cobalt sulfate is made to react with metallic zinc in water at an atomic ratio (Zn/Co) of 1-3 and the formed precipitate is treated with an aqueous solution of acetic acid to obtain a cobalt catalyst. 3-Aminomethyl-3,5,5-trimethylcyclohexylamine is produced by hydrogenating 3-cyano-3,5,5-trimethylcyclohexanone in the presence of ammonia using the cobalt catalyst produced by the above process. |
