PURPOSE:To realize double-side and multiplex operation using an intermediate tray from a manual insertion paper feeding part to enhance usability by detecting a minimum size and a maximum size of paper sheets allowable for setting in the manual insertion paper feeding part to be stored in a memory part, and inputting a size for manual insertion. CONSTITUTION:A cassette 1 as a manual insertion paper feeding part is provided with side regulation plates 3a, 3b. Movement of a main operation detection guide 4 connected to the side regulating plate 3a for regulating one side edge of a paper sheet 2 is detected by a main scanning length detection part 5 including a volume control to detect main scanning length of the paper sheet 2. At this time, paper sheets of a minimum size and a maximum size of paper sheets allowable for setting are successively placed in the cassette 1, the side regulating plates 3a, 3b are adjusted to the paper sheets 2 and output of the main scanning length detection part 5 is stored in a RAM. In the case where manual insertion information is not available, sizes of applicable paper sheets are listed based on calculated paper sheet width and after designation of a size, modes of automatic paper sheet selection, double-side, multiplex and the like are conducted in the cassette 1. |
