BUTT WELDING METHOD FOR HOLLOW PANELS

PURPOSE:To prevent a welding section from receiving stress concentration and prevent the occurrence of root cracking on the welding section. CONSTITUTION:Ribs 3 of the ends to be welded of hollow panels 1A and 1B are notched extending over a specified length. A groovelike reinforcing member 7 is fitted into the ends to be welded of the respective hollow panels 1A and 1B so that its opening section faces other hollow panel 1A and 1B sides. In a state with the ends of the rib sections 3 inserted into slits 10 formed so as to extend over a web 8 and both flanges 9 of the groovelike reinforcing member 7, the rib sections 3 and the web 8 and both flange parts 9 of the groovelike reinforcing member 7 are welded together, respectively. Afterwards, the flat plates 2 of the hollow panels 1A and 1B and both flange parts 9 of the groovelike reinforcing member 7 are butt-welded together, respectively.
