Sub-munition stabiliser band fixing system - uses pierced hub, pref. of epoxy] resin, joining both ends of band together and fastening them to projection on sub-munition

The system consists of a moulded hub (9) which holds the two ends of the stabiliser band (13a,13b) together and allows it to be fitted to the sub-munition. Pref the hub is deigned to fit onto a projection on the sub-munition eg its percussion head (3), and it has a recess (11) to receive a retaining ring (8) which is locked onto the rod. The total height of the hub and the depth of the recess are such that the end of the percussion head is enclosed within the recess. Hub (9) is pref of an epoxy resin. USE - System is designed for fitting attitude-control band to anti-vehicle or anti-personnel sub-munition launched from carrier projectile and has greater mechanical strength.
