PURPOSE:To attain a gap depth highly accurately by putting a mark, as a monitor for the gap depth, on a core and polishing the sliding face while measuring the monitor. CONSTITUTION:A core 1 is constituted of an I-type core 2 made of magnetic material such as ferrite and a C-type core 3 bonded to each other through glass 5. A gap part 29 is made in the upper part of the core 1 which is then inserted into a groove 4 made in the housing 4 and bonded thereto through glass 6. Subsequently, sliding face 11 is polished to attain a final target gap depth. Since a monitor can be formed on the core 1 at high speed with high accuracy, gap depth can be managed highly accurately by measuring the monitor from the sliding face side thus facilitating fabrication of composite magnetic head. |
