PURPOSE:To make a full and complete use of ink by printing ink-end and detecting the ink-end of an ink tank based on a detected mark density. CONSTITUTION:Recording paper is carried by carrier rollers 21 and 22 and picture data are recorded and printed by an ink-jet part 3 in the process. At the point of time when the rear end of the recording paper is carried for a prescribed amount after being detected by a recording paper sensor 23 and reaches the ink-jet part 3, printing is completed. The ink-jet part 3 is provided with the ink tank for storing the ink and prints a mark for detecting the ink-end on the recording paper with the ink inside. Then, the photosensor 24 of an ink-end detection part detects the density of the ink-end mark and detects the ink-end of the ink tank based on the mark density. Thus, it is unnecessitated to provide a sensor for detecting an ink position and cost can be reduced. Further, design with the high degree of freedom can be performed without restraining the structural distance of the sensor 24. |
