The nut (1) is mounted in a cage (2) having two opposite legs (4) extending from the base (3), which hold the cage in the opening (5) in the panel (P). The two legs each have, on one side, a cut-out with a curved section (5b) facilitating insertion of the cage, by tipping, into the panel opening. Each leg has an outwardly-projecting boss (7), and a free edge (6) folded outwards from the feet (4) in order to hold the cage on the panel. Two tabs (8) folded from the bottom hold the nut in the cage bottom. USE/ADVANTAGE - Panel mounting of caged nut without effort and giving protection of panel paintwork.
