PURPOSE:To obtain rare earth-iron-nitrogen magnetic material having high magnetic characteristics and excellent oxidation-resistant property by a method wherein a metal element is commonly contained in the rare earth-iron-nitrogen material having the structure of rhombohedral or hexagonal crystal. CONSTITUTION:This nitride magnetic material is indicated by the formula Ralpha(Fe(1-r)Mgamma)(100-alpha-beta)Nbeta, R indicates at least a kind of rare-earth elements containing Y, M indicates at least a kind selected from V, Nb, Ta, Mo, W, Ti, Zr and Hf, alpha and beta are atomic percentage as in 3<=alpha20 and 3<=beta<=30, and gammaindicates atomic ratio as in 0.001<=gamma<=0.5. The phase having R, Fe, M and N contains the crystal structure of rhombohedral crystal or hexagonal crystal. As a result, a rare earth-iron-nitrogen magnetic material, having excellent oxidation-resisting property and high magnetic characteristics, can be obtained. |
