PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording medium having excellent durability and low torque between a head and the medium at the time of starting and feeding. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic recording medium comprises a magnetic layer containing magnetic powder such as Co-coated gamma-Fe2O3, etc., and binder as main ingredients and formed on a nonmagnetic flexible support, wherein the magnetic layer contains sodium salt of 12-22C fatty acid containing at least 15wt.% of unsaturated acid such as oleic acid and/or at least 3wt.% of potassium salt. |
