PURPOSE:To obtain a high density optical recording medium having large recording capacity by successively laminating a guide layer for tracking capable of recording and reproduction, an interference layer and a recording layer on a substrate. CONSTITUTION:A guide layer 14 for tracking capable of recording and reproduction, an interference layer 16, a recording layer 18 and a protective layer 20 are successively laminated on a substrate 12. The layer 14 has been continuously or discontinuously patterned. Recording and reproduction to the layer 18 are carried out to a track at a part where the layer 14 is not present and recording and reproduction to the layers 18, 14 are distinguished by regulating the position of irradiation with laser beam and the depth of a focus. By this structure, information different from information recorded and reproduced in the layer 18 can be recorded and reproduced in the layer 14 and the objective high density optical recording medium having twice as large recording capacity as the conventional capacity can be obtd. |
