PURPOSE:To obtain a high density optical recording medium having large recording capacity by successively laminating a guide layer for tracking capable of carrying out recording and reproduction, a recording layer and a reflecting layer on a substrate. CONSTITUTION:A guide layer 14 for tracking capable of recording and reproduction, a recording layer 16 based on an oxide, an org. dye, etc., and a reflecting layer 18 are successively laminated on a substrate 12. The layer 14 has been continuously or discontinuously patterned. Recording and reproduction to the layer 16 are carried out to a track at a part where the layer 14 is not present and recording and reproduction to the layers 16, 14 are distinguished by regulating the position of irradiation with laser beam. By this structure, separate pieces of information can be recorded and reproduced in the layers 16, 14 and the objective high density optical recording medium having twice as large recording capacity as the conventional capacity can be obtd. |
