PURPOSE: To provide a device for electrifying a photoconductive surface to substantially uniform potential in a printing machine having a cleaning part for cleaning the photoconductive surface and an exposure part for exposing the surface with a light source. CONSTITUTION: The printing machine having the cleaning part for cleaning the photoconductive surface and the exposure part for exposing the surface with the light source is equipped with a 1st mechanism electrifying the photoconductive surface to the substantially uniform potential in a 1st polarity after the surface is cleaned by the cleaning part, and a 2nd mechanism electrifying the photoconductive surface to the substantially uniform potential in a 2nd polarity opposite to the 1st polarity after the surface is electrified to the substantially uniform potential in the 1st polarity by the 1st mechanism and before the surface is exposed with the light source in the exposure part 35.
