FORMATION OF MAGNETIC SHIELDING FILM

摘要

PURPOSE:To improve a magnetic shielding effect by the orientation of magnetic shielding particles within a magnetic shielding film and to eliminate the space loss between a magnetic head and a magnetic recording layer so that exact and stable writing and reading operations can be executed. CONSTITUTION:This method for formation of the magnetic shielding film to be provided on a magnetic recording medium for the purpose of protecting magnetic information consists in forming the coating film by applying a coating material formed by adding magnetic particles to a binder of a synthetic resin at a prescribed thickness on the magnetic recording layer. The surface of this coating film is then subjected smoothing to press a smooth surface thereto at a temp. above the glass transition point of the above-mentioned binder. The magnetic shielding particles existing within the coating film are oriented by this smoothing in the direction nearly parallel with the coating film surface.
