摘要 PURPOSE:To prevent laser light from decreasing in power density due to an air breakdown by providing a splitting optical system which splits the laser light on the incidence side of a kaleidoscope. CONSTITUTION:The laser light L with high peak power which is outputted from a Q switch ruby laser, etc., is transmitted through a prism 12 and an incidence lens 13 as the splitting optical system in order and made incident on the kaleidoscope 11 in a quadrangular prism shape. The incidence lens 13 is arranged having its focus position on the incidence end surface of the kaleidoscope 11. The prism 12 is in a quadrangular pyramid shape having four slanting surfaces at an angle theta and also arranged so that its vertex is aligned with the optical axis of the laser light and the respective slanting surfaces slant at the same angle to a plane crossing orthogonally to the optical axis of the laser light L. Therefore, the laser light is split into plural pieces and made incident on the kaleidoscope 11, so power density of each split laser light beam can be made smaller than the threshold value where the air breakdown is caused.
