摘要 PURPOSE:To enable efficient cooling without increasing the size of the whole device by arranging a cooling unit, composed a glass container containing a refrigerant and a heat radiation part, and forming microlenses at the liquid crystal display panel side part of the glass container. CONSTITUTION:Liquid crystal pixels 2a and a black matrix part 2b are formed at the part held with the glass substrates 1a and 1b of a liquid crystal display panel 1. The microlens array 5 is jointed to the light incidence surface side glass substrate 1a of the liquid crystal display panel 1 by using a joining material 6. On the light projection surface of the glass substrate 5a, microlenses 5b are arranged. The cooling unit 9 is joined to the light projection side surface of a projection side polarizing plate 8. The cooling unit 9 form the glass container 10 with two flat glass plates 10a and 10b and a glass frames 10c as a spacer and discharge fins 11 project from the upper end. The glass container 10 is filled with the refrigerant 12. Microlenses 10d are formed on the light incidence side surface of the flat glass plate 10a.
