PURPOSE:To preferentially retreive and display only a part to be interested on a document in a document retreival/display system for handling the large volume of the documents composed of image pictures. CONSTITUTION:At the time of storing the image pictures in a picture memory, a picture recognition/processing part 34 reads basic image pictures, extracts a display frame and positions the image pictures to be read thereafter and a picture compression/restoration processing part 36 compresses the pictures and stores them in the picture memory 37. At the time of retreiving and displaying the image pictures stored in the picture memory 37, the picture compression/restoration processing part 36 reads the pictures from the picture memory 37 and restores them, the picture recognition/processing part 34 displays the restored basic image pictures, a picture segmentation processing part 35 segments partial image pictures from the restored image pictures based on inputted picture segmenting area specification information and the picture recognition/processing part 34 synthesizes the restored image pictures and the partial image pictures and displays them at a display means 32. |
