Disengageable pincers (11) are coupled to a cable and each pincer has a moving lever (18) for opening and closing the pincers. A spring (23) at one end of the lever (18) holds the pincers (11) in the closed position. A control ramp (26) extends along the length of the pincers and co-operates with a control part (20) carried by the lever (18) and the device also has control parts (31,32) for the gripping. One end of the spring (23) is anchored to a semi-fixed part (26) carried by an abutment (30) on the body (12) and the control comprises an extrinsic device (31). USE - Cable installations notably cable-cars or chair-lifts.
