The damper has at least two superimposed friction plates (5) contacting curved contact surfaces (18) and which are in connection in alternating sequence with first and second of two friction damper connections (2a). Also provided is a tension unit (11,13,14,15,16) for the friction plate stack. The friction plate stack is composed of alternatingly arranged plates (5,6) with larger and smaller outer and inner dimensions. The contact surfaces (18) are produced by alternating arrangement of flat and curved friction rings (5,6). The contact surfaces can also be produced by alternating arrangement of even friction plates with outwardly arched round inlays.
