The mechanism has a cross wall (5) joined to the outer cylinder to form an external cup tappet (4). A control opening (14) has a connection to a storage chamber (15) which only communicates during the circular phase of the cam action (2). A channel (17) in the cup tappet side only communicates with the external pressure medium supply (18) outside the circular phase of the cam action. The storage chamber is machined into the guide (12) of the cup tappet. USE/ADVANTAGE - For a cam controlled lift valve in a combustion engine.
