The cushion, with centre seat and raised parts on the opposite sides or along the edges, is produced by means of a mould with corresponding parts. In the process expanded polyolefin containers are placed at the sides of the mould, a foaming polyurethane mix is poured to foam a low hardness foam in the space between the containers, another polyurethane is poured to form a higher hardness foam in the containers, and the liquids concerned are foamed up to produce the cushion with the containers embedded in it. The polyolefin used is a crosslinked foam with a surface wetting index of at least 36 dyne/cm. ADVANTAGE - The process produces a required shape of cushion in a standardised and consistent manner so that the cushion retains its shape over a long period of use.
