The normal spreading station and a pre-compression station are used. The pre-compression is carried out between suitable pre-compression belts or press plates. A conveyor belt unit (1) has two belts guided over changeover nose formations (2). Between the nose formations is a handling space (5) through which passes the pre-compressed press material mat (6). The spread material layer (7) for the lower cover layer comes freely into the handling space (5) from the conveyor belts (3,4) through which it passes. There is a milling roller (8) under the handling space (5). The milling components project into the handling space to work on the spread material layer (7) for the lower cover layer. The milled-away material is aspirated, for which input air (9) is fed. Above the handling space (5) is a counter pressure belt (10), which circulates synchronously with the transport of the press material mat (6), exerting a counter pressure. USE/ADVANTAGE - To produce fibre plates without the appearance of impurities in the surface material.
