The footgear upper (2) is wholly or partly made of juxtaposed strips of material (3,4,5) at least two of which separately have a piece (6) cut out of the side and/or an attachment (7). The cut out parts and attachments of slightly differing size are placed alongside each other so as to interlock and are in the shape of semicircles, clubs or lugs. The bottommost set of cut out sections and attachments is placed directly over, or to the side of, the insole of the shoe base (8). Interlocking back-tapered parts (9,10) on the cut out parts and attachments prevent the strips slipping. USE/ADVANTAGE - The footgear upper is made of strips of material not stitched together but otherwise interlocking.
