Spacers (7) are fitted to at least one flange (2,4) which abut the other flange (2), or its spacers, with the door (8) closed. Pref. one flange is of stainless steel with the spacers fitted to the other flange (4). The spacers are typically uniformly distributed over the flange front side, i.e. welded or glued. The seal (6) is formed of an inflatable hose and lies outside of the circle of the spacers. ADVANTAGE - Simple, low-cost design for uniform force take-up without damaging corrosion preventing coating.
