PURPOSE:To enable even a rigid metal strip to be wound reliably, by clamping the starting end of the metal strip with a tubular core the peripheral wall of which is partially cut away and with a pressing lod fitted in the core and rotating the core together with the pressing lod with the starting end clamped in this manner. CONSTITUTION:A clamper clamping one end (starting end) of a metal strip 2 is first driven to approach a core 17, and the starting end is positioned above a fitting section 18 of the core 17. Thereby, a pressing lod 19 is driven downwards by a third cylinder until an end thereof is fitted in the fitting section 18 and the starting end of the metal strip 2 is clamped by the inner face of the fitting section 18 and the end of the pressing lod 19. While the starting end of the metal strip 2 is clamped by the core 17 and the pressing lod 19 in this manner, the core 17 and the pressing lod 19 are joined integrally by a clamper not shown and then rotated in the direction as indicated by the arrow. In this manner, the metal strip 2 is wound on the outer periphery of the pressing lod 19 and of the fitting section 18 of the core 17. |
