The invention relates to a bucket capable of equipping a sorting or handling system making it possible to handle and sort, with delicacy and precision, objects of low mechanical strength (fragile, soft, non-packaged, etc. objects). It consists of two half-buckets (11, 12) pivoting about the drive shaft (axis) of the sorting or handling system during opening of the bucket upon action of a trigger arrangement (31) by virtue of the action of the counterweights (21, 22), permitting the release, upon arrival, of the object which it contains, this taking place in a horizontal position, the latter being retained by the bucket regardless of the orientation and tilt of the said chain in a vertical plane. The device according to the invention is intended particularly for systems for sorting or handling objects of low mechanical strength. <IMAGE>
